UUNET Kenya unveils in part its 2010 Strategy


Information Communication Technology (ICT) journalists were hosted to a lunch session by UUNET Kenya Limited. Here, the firm revealed in part its strategy for 2010 which included: the Pan-African Strategy, New Product Development, as well as the extensive look of partnerships that are placing UUNET on the international map.

Pan-African Strategy
This strategy will be realized through leveraging on the footprint offered by the two Pan-African entities, MTN Business and Telkom South Africa, the main shareholders of UUNET Kenya Limited.

“MTN Business and Telkom South Africa - operate in over 38 African countries and we are best placed to offer global distance business communication solutions in all these countries,” said UUNET Kenya’s MD Mr. Tom Omariba.

Sony to provide video conferencing facilities in Kenya


Local Internet Service Provider, UUNET, has entered into a partnership with electronics manufacturer Sony to provide video conferencing facilities in Kenya.


In the agreement, UUNET will provide bandwidth capacity required while also reselling Sony’s video conferencing equipment.

The video conferencing technology has been in Kenya for about four years. It is mainly used by multinational organisations such as the United Nations and the World Bank.
The satellite-based Internet connection has been limited due to high cost, speed and clarity.
